HIGHLANDERS have been rocked by fresh dressing room drama after explosive revelations that striker Isaac Ngoma could be refusing to play over money issues!
The Zambian forward was a surprise absentee when Bosso played out a frustrating goalless draw against Ngezi Platinum Stars last weekend.
After the match, coach Benjani Mwaruwari tried to cool down speculation, insisting the player was attending to a family matter.
“He is attending to a personal issue. We have tried to talk to him and we hope the situation will be resolved soon,” said Benjani.
However, sources close to the situation say the real storm is about CASH!
“The player wants more money. He argues what he is presently getting is not enough to sustain him and his family” a source revealed.
The bombshell now leaves Bosso fans wondering whether Ngoma will be available for Saturday’s fiery showdown against Manica Diamonds at Sakubva Stadium.
And the timing could not be worse for Highlanders.
Bosso have become the kings of draws this season, dropping points in matches they were expected to win. While they have only lost once in the league, supporters are growing impatient with the team’s failure to kill off opponents.
Ngoma’s possible absence would be another massive blow to a Highlanders attack already struggling for goals.
Waiting for them in Mutare is a desperate Manica Diamonds side itching to punish the Bulawayo giants.
Manica Diamonds coach Patrick Mandizha says his side will not be scared of Bosso’s reputation or crowd power.
“We respect them, but that does not mean we fear them,” declared Mandizha.
The Gem Boys are fighting for survival after a nightmare start to the campaign that has left them hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.
But with Sakubva Stadium finally back in use, Mandizha believes the atmosphere could inspire his struggling side.
“Returning to Sakubva has boosted the confidence of the team,” he said.
Saturday’s clash is now shaping into a pressure cooker battle.
For Bosso, it is another must-win encounter in their bid to keep pace with the leading pack.
For Manica Diamonds, it is a chance to rescue a season threatening to spiral out of control.
And hanging over everything is one explosive question, will Ngoma play?
