Bosso fans on roadshow ahead of DeMbare clash

HIGHLANDERS supporters will embark on a roadshow involving fans and the team ahead of their side’s titanic clash against Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon.

Calling themselves the Greater Bulawayo Supporters Chapter, the Bosso followers will start their journey from Joshua Mqabuko Street in the city centre to the stadium starting at 1pm.

Loveness Ncube, the chairperson of the Greater Bulawayo chapter said they wanted to ease the pressure on the Bosso players because they realised that they panicked a lot every time they played Dynamos.

Ncube is confident that Highlanders will emerge victorious over Dynamos for the first time since 2006 and has faith in coach Bongani Mafu to finally break that jinx.

“We have a roadshow which starts from Joshua Mqabuko Street, we will be joined by the team then we leave for the stadium at 1pm.

“From morning we will be painting the town black and white, we are preaching the gospel of no to violence, hooliganism and tribalism.

“We want to create an environment where everyone is free to come to the stadium. Mafu is going to beat Dynamos, the problem with our players is that they panic too much every time we play Dynamos,’’ said Ncube.

The Greater Bulawayo chapter is made up of 39 Highlanders card carrying members at the moment with more expected to join.

Ncube outlined that their aim was to help the club bring back the junior policy; make Highlanders a team envied by all junior players from Bulawayo. They also intend to boost morale of the players by lining up activities, with one such initiative being the man-of-the match award at home matches.

In conjunction with other chapters they (Bulawayo Chapter) want to carry out fundraising initiatives.

So far Highlanders have set up supporters chapters in Harare, Victoria Falls and Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, the Greater Bulawayo chapter was launched yesterday at a function blessed by the presence of Highlanders executive members.
