FORMER ZIFA Normalisation Committee member Sikhumbuzo Ndebele has stirred the pot at Highlanders FC after accusing the club of sidelining his application for the vacant chief executive officer post.
Ndebele, who previously threw his hat in the ring for the same position in 2018, says this time he was ghosted. He claims he submitted his application on 20 May, but weeks later, he’s still waiting for even a basic “we got it” reply from the club.
Smelling a rat, Ndebele penned a strongly-worded letter to club chairman Kenneth Mhlophe, questioning the transparency of the recruitment process.
“I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the application process for the CEO position at Highlanders FC, specifically surrounding the lack of communication regarding my application status,” reads part of his letter.
He added: “It was standard practice for your organization to confirm receipt of applications as a fundamental aspect of recruitment etiquette in the past.”
While insisting his complaint isn’t driven by bitterness, Ndebele warned that poor communication could cast doubt on the club’s governance and transparency.
“The absence of such acknowledgement may tempt one to raise questions about the club’s internal communications,” he said.
With interviews for the hot seat vacated by Brian Moyo set for Friday morning, the timing of Ndebele’s communique has set the cat among the pigeons — and fans asking if the race is already rigged.
Highlanders have not yet responded to Ndebele’s letter, although they were given the right of reply on Thursday.
Is Bosso’s house in order or is there smoke behind this silence?
