THE Premier Soccer League have postponed the match between Highlanders and Chicken Inn while a minute of silence will be observed across the country following the death of three Highlanders executives.
The domestic Premiership was plunged into mourning following the death of Bosso chairman Kenneth Mhlophe, who is also the PSL vice-chairman, Highlanders vice-chairman Sifiso Siziba and treasurer Nkani Khoza.
“The Premier Soccer League advises all stakeholders that the Castle Lager PSL fixture between Highlanders FC and Chicken Inn FC scheduled for Sunday 26 July 2026, has been postponed following the passing of PSL Vice Chairman, Rtd. Col. Kenneth Mhlophe, Highlanders FC Vice
Chairman, Sifiso Siziba and Treasurer, Nkani Khoza,” said the PSL in a statement.
The trio perished in a road traffic accident on their way from Kariba where Highlanders played a league match against ZPC Kariba.
However, the league said the rest of the fixtures will go ahead as scheduled and will observe a moment of silence before kickoff.
“We call upon all clubs and football stakeholders to officially observe a moment of silence in respect and honour of their legacy before the commencement of all Matchday 25 fixtures.
“All clubs are requested to participate in this tribute by wearing black armbands during the weekend matches,” said the PSL.
ZIFA also joined hands in mourning the passing away of the three Bosso executive members.
“On behalf of the Zimbabwe Football Association, its Executive Committee, management, staff and the entire football fraternity, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the Highlanders Football Club Executive Committee, players,
technical team, members, supporters and everyone affected by this devastating loss,” said a statement from ZIFA.
“At this moment of profound sorrow, ZIFA stands shoulder to shoulder with Highlanders Football Club and the wider football community.
“We share in your grief and remain united in honouring the lives, service and legacy of these distinguished football administrators. May their souls rest in eternal peace.”
