HIGHLANDERS’ midfielder, Divine Mhindirira, has attributed his success at the club to his teammates.
The midfielder, who has bossed the midfield in most games, has heard his name being mentioned by different football stakeholders as one of the favourites to make it onto the Soccer Stars of the Year list.
Highlanders came from behind to force a 2-2 draw against Chicken Inn on Sunday.
Mhindirira said they should avoid conceding as it piles unnecessary pressure on the team.
“I’ve learnt that a team needs collective effort from everyone. “Team effort is a necessity to get the desired results.
“So, when we are on the pitch, we win or lose as a team.
“At the end of the day, what counts is the team’s achievements and not individual success,” said Mhindirira.
He added:
“Still, on that, l also believe that we should not concede goals. “Conceding goals puts too much pressure on us. “A look at how we fared against FC Platinum and Chicken Inn is a good example.”
He said they have to finish the season as high as they can.
“At this point, the championship is out of reach. FC Platinum have it in their hands.
“For us, finishing in a respectable position on the table is what we are all working on.
“The task for us in the remaining fixtures is to do our best to finish in the top four.
“That would set a better starting point for the team next season.”
He said the players thrive from the energy they get from the fans.
“That pushes me to perform to the best of my ability. “It’s always nice to hear good feedback on individual performances but, at Highlanders, it’s not about individuals.”
