THE money has started flowing!
Highlanders Football Club has received the first chunk of Wicknell Chivayo’s US$1 million sponsorship deal, and it’s already making waves in the players’ wallets.

The first disbursement of US$250 000 has officially hit Bosso’s coffers, with US$57 000 going straight to clearing outstanding winning bonuses for 2024 and 2025, reports Bhora Afrika Magazine . The cash injection is being handled by Jabulani Nkomo, son of the late Vice President John Landa Nkomo, who is overseeing the deal.
“In our June 26 meeting with the Highlanders executive, we agreed that player welfare is key,” said Nkomo.

“That’s why the first payment is focused on clearing overdue winning bonuses. The bank has been instructed to wire the funds directly to players, and payments should reflect within hours.”
This is part of a four-part package that will see Bosso receive US$250,000 every quarter, all thanks to Sir Wicknell’s love for the black and white giants.
Chivayo, who has publicly pledged undying loyalty to Highlanders, stunned the football world with the sponsorship package earlier this month. He says the gesture was inspired by a powerful message he received from the late Nkomo on his deathbed, reminding him to stand by Bosso.

“Bosso ngenkani!” declared Chivayo on 11 June, pledging to uplift the team.
His generosity didn’t start with the million dollar pledge. Just a few months ago, he rescued the club from a FIFA transfer ban by settling a US$27 000 debt owed to former coaches Baltemar Brito and Antonio Joao Torres.
With the first batch of funding now in play, all eyes are on Bosso to deliver results on the pitch.

“We will hold more meetings with the Highlanders leadership to map out other urgent needs,” said Nkomo.
“This donation has the potential to revive the club’s fortunes. To the players, the pressure is now on you. Go make the black and white family proud!”
