HIGHLANDERS’ Kudakwashe Mahachi, Peter Moyo and Milton Ncube were yesterday afternoon involved in an accident when the car they were travelling in veered off the road in Kadoma. They were on their way to the national team which plays Malawi on Wednesday in an international friendly. The match will be played in Lilongwe.

Ncube was driving with his Bosso and national teammates passengers.
Moyo and Mahachi are said to have sustained minor injuries with Moyo complaining of neck pain.
Mahachi sustained an open wound on the left leg.

“The accident occurred on the 136km peg along the Harare-Bulawayo road at 1640 hours. Milton Ncube was behind the wheel and he lost control of the vehicle resulting in the car veering off the road to the right and side swapped with an oncoming vehicle, they were treated and discharged at Kadoma General Hospital,” said the Mashonaland West police spokesman Clemence Mabgweazara last night.
Ncube was driving his Honda Fiat.

Said the police spokesperson: “We noted no signs of drunken driving on the part of the driver.”
Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela wished the trio a speedy recovery and said the association has been shaken by the incident. “It’s a very unfortunate incident for the association but we are happy that there was no loss of life,” said Gwesela.
