HIGHLANDER FC striker Gabriel Nyoni is on cloud nine after scoring his first goal since joining the club from Division One outfit Bulawayo Chiefs in July. Nyoni opened his account for Bulawayo giants in a 2-0 victory over Monomotapa on Wednesday but soccer fans must have been left dumbfounded when he decided to remove his pair of shorts as part of the celebrations.
In an interview, the Nust marketing honours student, said he was overwhelmed by the feat of scoring his first goal.

He described the scoring as the happiest moment of his career.
“I’m so happy that I have finally scored for Highlanders, I give glory to God and my teammates for the support they have given me since day one,” said Nyoni.

Asked why he removed his shorts, Nyoni said he  was so overwhelmed by excitement that he just found himself removing the pair of shorts as he celebrated the important goal.

Nyoni showed signs of improvement since joining the Bulawayo giants and on the day he tormented the Monomotapa defence.
The pintsized striker is promising to repay gaffer Kelvin Kaindu for having confidence in him.

“I have been improving since my first game and with God’s help I hope to score more goals,” said Nyoni.
Highlanders seem to have finally found the solution upfront with speedy Nyoni as he seems to get good supply from the creative midfield of Milton Ncube, Rio Moyo, Mthulisi Maphosa and Masimba Mambare.

Nyoni played as a lone a striker after Bosso changed attacking style which Kaindu felt had become so predictable.
“We changed the system and pushed one striker in front and the approach paid off,” said Kaindu.
