adminHead coach Gaoletlhoo “Ronaldoh” Nkutlwisang was oozing with confidence when asked about her team’s chances of turning the tables. Nkutlwisang said they had worked on their mistakes from the first leg in Gaborone.
After the first leg, Botswana managed to play two friendly matches with North West University of South Africa women’s team in Mafikeng and won convincingly 9-0 before engaging Artists Male Squad of Botswana and emerged victors 7-0.
Nkutlwisang was impressed with the performance in the two friendly matches saying there was improvement in the way the team was defending and attacking as compared to the first leg tie against Mighty Warriors.
“We have come to fulfil the second leg and we are urging Zimbabweans to come in their numbers to witness carpet soccer. I have brought the same squad that took part in the first leg and we will stick to the same starting line-up,” Nkutlwisang said.
The Botswana gaffer indicated that they were relying on individual efforts but believed that anyone thrown in the fray had to deliver. She added that in the first leg her squad was booed and in the second leg it would be a different scenario.
“Our captain Bonang Bebeto who plays for Inline Academy here in Zimbabwe has inside information that would help us in terms of tactical planning,” added Nkutlwisang.
Nkutlwisang bemoaned the fact that the match venue on Sunday was artificial turf and her players were not used to such conditions. She, however, said that coming earlier would help her players adjust to the pitch conditions.
Botswana captain Bebeto was also bubbling with confidence when asked about their chances of upsetting Mighty Warriors.
She highlighted that after the first leg defeat, they had corrected their mistakes and were eager to turn the tables. The captain said they had experienced and young players in the squad who had been together for a long period.
