A FIGHT between two minors from Nyazura ended in tragedy after one of them was hit on the head with a sharp object and bled to death.
Police confirmed the tragedy which occurred on Sunday and said the perpetrator aged 10 will face murder charges.
It is alleged that the two 10-year-old boys were in the custody of Monica Mberi who left them home while she went to collect firewood.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Enock Chishiri said: “The late Gwinyai Dzatsato had a misunderstanding with the suspect (name withheld) after he stepped on his foot by mistake.

“The suspect did not take the stepping on his foot as a mistake. A fight ensued between the two and the suspect was defeated. He opted to run away. After running for a few metres, he took a sharp iron rod and threw it at the pursuing Gwinyai. The iron rod hit him on the head and caused a deep wound.

“Gwinyai bled profusely and a report was made to the police,” said Insp Chishiri.
He was rushed to Chitenderano Clinic and was referred to Rusape General Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Insp Chishiri said: “The suspect will face murder charges.

“A child who is below seven years of age is the one who is immune to prosecution.
“We encourage parents and guardians to make sure that their children are under control all the time to avoid such cases.”
