The accident, which was confirmed by the acting police spokesperson for Matabeleland South, Sergeant Loveness Mangena occurred at about 5pm on Friday.
Sgt Mangena said the boy was with four other juveniles when the tragic accident happened.
“The haulage truck, which belongs to Colbro, was being driven by Samuel Mpofu (40) along the Masvingo-Mbalabala highway and was towing two trailors.
“When approaching the 196km peg, five juveniles appeared towards the side of the road walking towards Mbalabala. The deceased suddenly crossed the road from the right. He was hit by the front of the truck and died on the spot,” said Sgt Mangena.
She said a report was made to the police, who attended to the scene and took the boy’s body to Filabusi mortuary.
