A 25-year-old Epworth “Boy Scouts trainer”, who was arrested on Monday on allegations of sodomy, appeared in court yesterday charged with aggravated indecent assault.
Blackmore Hove appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Milton Serima.
Mr Serima consented to an application made by the police to keep Hove in further detention as they wanted to complete their investigations.
The investigating officer indicated that they needed about 48 hours to finish their investigations as the matter was sensitive.
The court heard that 12 complainants had reported sodomy cases against Hove and police are still to investigate five more. They have already investigated seven of the reported cases.
The court heard that the reports made so far involved children between the ages of seven and 14 years.
Allegations leading to the arrest of Hove are that between November and December last year Hove, who was a “Boy Scouts trainer” in Overspill, would take advantage of the minors when they went camping.
The court heard that Hove would ask the boys to strip naked before bed and he would sodomise them during the night.
A report made to the police by a concerned mother led to Hove’s arrest and this also led to more parents filing reports on the same matter.
Hove is expected back in court tomorrow.
