BREAKING: Bulawayo Deputy Mayor, Councillor arrested for demanding US$20 000 bribe

Bulawayo Deputy Mayor Clr Edwin Ndlovu and the councillor  for ward 26, Clr Mpumelelo Moyo, have been arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission for allegedly demanding a bribe from an investor who wanted to set up a cement manufacturing plant in the city.

Zacc Communication and Media Liaison Manager Simiso Mlevu confirmed the arrest.

“They demanded US$20 000 bribe from Labenmon Investments for allegedly facilitating approval of an application for land for a cement mixing plant,” she said.
The duo is expected to appear in court soon.

Zacc has been monitoring alleged underhand dealings at the Bulawayo City Council, and some workers were recently arrested on charges of corruption.
