BREAKING NEWS: 7 Zimbabweans die in SA accident

Seven Zimbabweans were killed while nine others were seriously injured when a Musina bound commuter omnibus they were traveling in collided with a haulage truck some 2 kilometres from Beitbridge border post along the N1 Highway this morning.

Limpopo Police spokesperson , Lt Colonel Ronnel Otto said the incident occurred at around 5 am at a traffic light near the weigh bridge.

She said the cause of the accident was still being investigated.

accident3“The truck was driving from Musina towards Beitbridge and the taxi from Beitbridge to Musina.  The circumstances around the accident are being investigated and a case of culpable homicide was opened.

“Seven people died on the scene and nine injured people, including the driver of the taxi, were taken to a hospital at Musina for treatment.

The driver of the truck was not injured”she said.

accident4Lt Col Otto said all the 15 passengers in the kombi were from Zimbabwe adding that the names of the deceased would be released once their next of kin have been informed.
