Breaking News: Driver jailed five years for Nyanga bus accident

The driver of a Tynwald High School bus that was involved in an accident in Nyanga last year has been convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment by a Nyanga magistrate.

Six students and one teacher lost their lives in the accident.

Chamunorwa Machimbidzofa was found guilty of culpable homicide after a full trial.

However, one year was suspended on condition that Machimbidzofa doesn’t commit an offence involving negligent driving in the next five years.
This means he will serve an effective four years in prison.

Additionally, the court cancelled Machimbidzoka’s driver’s licence and barred him from driving for five years.
