LUCK ran out for a Chipinge duo that stole two cattle and was arrested before selling them to a fellow villager.
Gift Joe (32) and Aleck Munguchi (27), of Chitepo A Village, under Chief Garahwa on Tuesday appeared before Chipinge magistrate, Mr Alfred Chinembiri facing charges of contravening Section 114 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act (Chapter 9:23), which criminalises stock theft.
Mr Chinembiri did not ask the two to plead.
He remanded in custody to May 8.
Prosecuting, Mr Edmore Mahlanganise said on April 19 the two went to Norah Moyana’s homestead and stole two bovines.
“The two drove the cattle to a bush near Makoho Village and tied them to a tree.
“One of the accused persons approached Simon Mahlazi, and told him that they were selling two cattle,” said Mr Mahlanganise.
Mahlazi got suspicious and alerted other villagers who reported the matter to police.
The two suspects allegedly implicated Chris Chimwenje, who is still at large.
The cattle were valued USD$800.
