A LOCAL church leader, who is a breast cancer survivor, has turned 60 in what she believes is a milestone development given there were fears she would not make it this far.

Pastor Rosemary Mangwanya of New United Apostolic church says she has every reason to celebrate her life.

On her 60th birthday, Pastor Rose urged her church members to consider medical and spiritual assistance.

“Today, allow me to celebrate my birthday in style considering that I am one of the cancer survivors,” said Pastor Rose.

“My husband took me for cancer screening despite his spiritual position of praying for the sick.

“I was under attack, I lost one of my breasts due to cancer. I sought medical treatment from a local medical doctor as well as from outside the country while receiving prayers from church members.”

She added:

“The church members also raised part of my medical treatment costs besides praying for me and we won the battle.

“Local and foreign doctors certified that my blood is now clean and I want to thank the Almighty God.

“I still have a duty to play, I am yet to finish my race.

“Let me take this opportunity to urge people, especially Christians, to consider going for cervical and breast cancer screening.

“Medical doctors are part of our prayers and allow them to play their role.”

Among the guests was her 102-year-old mother in-law, Gogo Margaret Mangwanya.

Gogo Mangwanya said:

“I used to play with Pastor Rose’s mother during our childhood.

“Her mother passed away a month after her marriage to my son.

“Takambofurirana kuti tipikirekuita masister asi takazowiririrana kuti ngatiroorwei tibereke vana vedu vanozotichengeta kana tachembera.

“Nhasi vana ava ndivo vakutichengeta.

“Do not neglect your parents when they are old or when they are sick.

“Vakuru vakati anebenzi ndeanerake rikadzana unopururudza nekudaro ngatichengetei vabereki vedu musavarashe nekuti ndivo vakashandiswa naMwari kuti uvepanyika.”

The celebrations were attended by various church leaders and medical doctors.
