Briefly, miniskirts cause fatter legs

The Rhodesia Herald,

June 10, 1968

THE legs of girls who habitually wear miniskirts are getting fatter. This news comes from an unexpected source – the current journal of the National and Local Government Officers’ Association, which reported on experiments in France.

Measurements were taken of girls’ legs before they started wearing miniskirts and again after a period.

The verdict: fatter legs. This journal, under the heading, “A Brief About Beef”, said: “Measurements in France have established that the wearing of miniskirts has caused girls to develop five percent fatter and seven percent more flesh on the newly exposed portion of leg as a protection for their circulatory systems”

But the news is not all bad. It could result in plumber cattle and better Sunday joints.

The article continued: “Experiments have now begun in France and the United States to see if sheep and cattle can similarly be induced to grow more flesh on their rumps and loins (source of the choicest cuts) by shaving the appropriate areas and then subjecting the animals to the elements.”

LESSONS FOR TODAY

In life, there are always two sides of a coin – the good and the bad, but it depends on which side one is looking at the situation from.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Having plumber legs is not an entirely bad thing, depending on which continent one comes from. For instance, African women are naturally bigger than their European counterparts and they are comfortable with their bodies’ makeup.

Scientific research is always central to the development of new strategies, to increase production.
