ALICK Macheso has the energy to deal with a gruelling schedule, which will see him perform for half of this month, including a marathon non-stop 12-day whirlwind programme.
This is shaping up to be a whirlwind month for the King of Sungura.
The Orchestra Mberikwazvo frontman has lined up an impressive 15 shows across the country.
Of interest in that schedule is a marathon of shows that will see him perform every night from December 20 to December 31.
Macheso’s publicist Tich Makahamadze said fatigue is never an issue when it comes to Macheso.
“The man himself still has the energy, the same with our band members.
“After this, we will then take a rest in January to recharge the batteries.
“That is never an issue, we have enough people for this busy schedule. We have three or four people per each instrument.
“That is the case with all departments.”
Macheso kick starts the busy schedule in Harare this Friday with shows at Werras Park in Glen View 1, and proceeds to Kasi Kasi Bar in Mabvuku the following day.
He will then perform in Masvingo and Shurugwi on December 13 and 14 respectively.
Macheso then drives back to Harare to start the gruelling schedule at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex on December 20, followed by Penhalonga, Marondera, Harare again, Chinhoyi, Glendale, Mutoko, Kwekwe, Zvishavane, Esigodini and finally Beitbridge.
Speaking to H-Metro ahead of the tour, Macheso said this has been the case with his festive season over the years.
He said the idea is to be with his fans as they celebrate during the festive holidays in all corners of the country.
“During this period, people gather, coming from different parts of the world to celebrate as family and friends.
“So it is our wish as Mberikwazvo to make sure that we give them entertainment and celebrate with them.
“Tinenge tichitoda kuridza nyika yose tizadzise zvido zvevakariti band revanhu, because if you check, some are even complaining on why they have left out,” said Macheso.
Macheso also spoke on limited time with his family during the festive period, saying he always spares time for them despite the busy schedule.
“This is not a new occurrence; we have been here before. If you check the schedule, we have at least four shows in Harare and in other towns close.
“So I will have time for my family.
“They also understand what comes with this job and vanotoziva kuti ndiko kubasa,” added Macheso.
Concerns have also been raised on whether Macheso and his team would be able to keep the energy levels throughout the month.
