Bring on the little red dress

Anne Ruthenburg Beauty
Hello again, readers, how are you this week. I am so excited it is Valentine’s. Of course like many women around the world, I am campaigning for a gift for Valentine’s. I am not fussy, but I won’t say no if you want to give me a few million . . . kikiki

So this week, I want to encourage you to get on with the re-branding and why not start by purchasing or upgrading your “little red dress”.

Yes that is right, there is the little black dress and the little red dress. Now I am saying on Valentine’s Day we have the little red dress.

Some of you are probably shocked when I say “little” because you know me I am quite conservative and it is very rare for me to encourage anyone to wear anything little.

So of course I must clarify this statement.

I am not advocating for women on Valentine’s Day to walk around half naked, showing us what your mother gave birth to – no!

The “little black dress” is a dress that sits above the knee, but is not so short that we see your paradise before you bend.

That is the same thing now with the “little red dress”. It is just a dress that is red and is shorter than a medium to long dress.

Things have changed because of women like me who refuse to show our legs or booty unless it is absolutely necessary or unavoidable, kikiki.

The little red dress can be anything from a long flowing evening gown to a mid-thigh fitting ensemble.

If you are someone who lives to show their sticks to the whole world everyday – maybe this Valentine’s Day you should think about toning it down somewhat. Try wearing a long fitting dress which flows to the bottom.

I tell you there is nothing more shocking and attention grabbing than a woman who does a 180 degree change.

I tell you try it and then give me feedback. But for those of us who live to keep our precious sticks covered, this is the weekend you want to show off some leg girl. Seriously, why not? What is the worst thing someone can say? And you know what, red looks great on everyone no matter what your skin shade or tone. No be careful – I said red not pinkish red, not plum, not orange red, not light red, brown red or any other made-up red. I mean real red.

The secret of any red dress, ladies, is for you to look sexy, but not like a lady of the night. You need to look pretty, but not like a teenager. You need to look cool, but not naked. I hope you get the point.

Then you need to work a plan with the shoes – I mean real shoes, not slip-ons, sandals, takkies, etc. I mean high heels, girls. Flat heels do not do justice to short dresses. Flat heels always make the outfit casual. Put the heels on, girlfriend, no matter what your height or body size or shape, the correct heels can make any women look like a rose in blossom.

The jewellery – go for it! Any shape style or length works with these shot little clothes.

However, the determining factor for what type of jewellery you should wear is the type of neck or shoulder design.

You should note that the bulkier your neck and shoulder line are, the less your jewellery should be. It makes no sense to wear huge pearls around your neck and hands, when your whole neckline is covered in frills.

However, it you have a dress with one sleeve and that sleeve has ruffles or large frill, it is very possible to wear bulky jewellery because they will make up for the missing sleeve on the other hand. I hope you understand.

And the hair? Well-up styles are the preferred way to go when you are wearing something short. If you have short hair already – good for you.

Otherwise use stylish little girly clips in the hair to keep it up and allow little tendrils to fall down the sides of you face and back of neck. There is, however, nothing wrong with having your hair down if it is long, but maybe pin it to the side or up in the front, so that the attention is removed from the hair to the dress.

And if you find yourself alone this Valentine’s Day, never mind, dress up anyway, buy yourself your favourite drink, make your favourite meal or buy a takeaway, kikiki, have your dinner, then sit in front of the TV enjoying your favourite television programme. Why not – this is Zimbabwe . . . we are happy people . . . kikiki.

That is it from me this week, folks. Enjoy!

God bless!
