IT was comedy mayhem at Hillside Walk in Bulawayo this past Saturday as Burg Comedy brought Harare and Bulawayo comedians to the same stage — and the people showed up.
Not once, but twice! The show sold out both days, leaving crowds howling, standing, and begging for more.
“The room was packed — we sold out, added more tickets, and even then, some people had to stand the whole show,” said host and comedian Frank Chirisa, clearly still buzzing from the crowd’s wild energy.
Co-hosted by Brandon Masuku, the Burg Comedy Show kicked off with a curtain-raiser segment featuring debutants Christian, Brendon Mbofana, and Tha Slick Bishop. The newbies held their own, offering glimpses of future comedy kings in the making.
“The first 30 minutes gave us raw talent. They’re green, but definitely something to build on,” Chirisa said.
The main show turned the heat way up. Surprise acts from Harare — ACE and Hupenyu — joined Bulawayo’s General Lesley Masuku in delivering back-to-back laughs. But it was Ble (Bulawayo) and Chipenzi (Harare) who stole the show, drawing the loudest roars with razor-sharp wit and killer timing.
“This wasn’t a battle — it was a showcase,” Chirisa clarified.
“We wanted each city to flex what it’s got, and wow — every act brought their A-game. It was flawless from start to finish.”
With such massive support, Burg Comedy is officially the hottest ticket in town.
“This is just the beginning. We’re back on May 22 at Hillside Walk, and Harare comics are definitely coming again. Eventually, we’re going international — the goal is to make our show an experience comedians everywhere want to be part of.”
For now, it’s clear: Bulawayo wants more laughs — and Burg Comedy is delivering.
