HIGHLANDERS Football Club coach Baltemar Brito has been left frustrated by the registration of some players.

Brito handed debuts to new signings Marvelous Chigumira and Brighton Manhire in his side’s 2-1 victory over FC Platinum on Sunday.

The duo could have made their debuts earlier but their licences only arrived after the first two rounds of matches.

Striker, Calvin Chigonero who is on loan at Highlanders from Talen Vision is still to get his licence.

Asked about the progress with regard to Chigonero getting his licence, Highlanders communications officer and marketing officer Nozibelo Maphosa said “We are still waiting for his registration to come.”
Zifa are the licensing authority and when asked why there has been a delay to the registration of Chigonero who joined Highlanders in December last year their answer raised more questions than answers.

“I am not aware of that matter. Nothing has been brought to me in regard to that. I have not received complaints from any club,” said Zifa communications officer Xolisani Gwesela who is also the acting Zifa chief executive officer.

After the victory against FC Platinum, Brito spoke briefly on his thoughts on the delays to player registration.

“It’s not only us who have this problem but that is a little bit frustrating but it’s something that is being worked on.

“We have this problem with the registration but we are not looking at that.

“We have 25 players and it’s only three games played. What we need is more time working with these boys because our pre-season was not good.

“We had some rainy days and we did not play as many friendly matches,” said Brito.

Last season, Chigonero started off at Ajax where he scored three goals before he joined Talen Vision and he continued with his scoring exploits.
