Bruised Bosso brace for Hwange

BRUISED and battered Highlanders will face off against Hwange in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League at the Colliery Stadium on Sunday.

Bosso are still recovering from a surprising 0-2 loss to Bikita Minerals, who are relegation-threatened, during a mid-week match at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare.

Despite a strong home win against Greenfuel, Highlanders faced a tough opponent in Bikita Minerals, who had just drawn against last season’s champions Ngezi Platinum Stars. However, Bosso couldn’t capitalise on their 4-0 drabbing of Greenfuel.

Wednesday’s loss marked Highlanders’ ninth defeat of the season, leaving them in fifth place on the league table with 47 points. Bikita Minerals, however, increased their overall tally to 35 points and are currently in 15th position.

Bikita Minerals is set to take on Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium in their next match. The Gamecocks head coach, Joey Antipas, acknowledged that defeating Bikita Minerals would not be easy but his team was well-structured and would continue playing well.

“It will be a tricky game on Saturday against Bikita Minerals. Beating Highlanders is not an easy thing. We are happy that we played well against Ngezi Platinum Stars. We were well structured and will continue doing that,” said Antipas.

Ngezi Platinum Stars face Herentals at Baobab Stadium on Saturday while newly crowned league champions, Simba Bhora, will play against FC Platinum at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva.

Simba Bhora wrapped up the season with two games left and reached an unassailable 66 points with their 1-0 victory over Arenal Movers on Wednesday. Second-placed FC Platinum are on 57 points, making it impossible for them to reach the 66-point margin.
