BUDIRIRO 2 Flats residents have been losing their valuables, which include parked vehicles, to robbers during the night.

A number of residents woke up to find their vehicles tampered with while some have found their vehicles, especially Honda Fit, missing after having been stolen.

One of the victims, Christine Muzembe, 42, of Block 6, woke up last Thursday to find her silver Honda Fit (AFL 1851) had been stolen.

“On the 27th of April, at around 1900 hours, I parked my car close to my place of residence and locked it.

“At around 0600 hours the following day, I peeped through my bedroom window and did not see my motor vehicle at the place I had parked it.

“After inquiring from other neighbours, I realised that the motor vehicle had been stolen while other motor vehicles had also been tampered with,” said Christine.

Acting Harare provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Webster Dzvova, confirmed the case saying investigations have since been started.

“Police are investigating car theft cases and we are urging motorists to make sure their vehicles are secured and avoid leaving their car keys unattended.

“A Budiriro woman lost her Honda Fit valued at US$5 000,” said Ass-Insp Dzvova.

He also confirmed another motorist, Stewart Beverly, 52, of Glen Lorne, who lost his Toyota Vitz (ACD 7835) worth US$8000, after leaving it parked inside a precast wall.

The main gate was reported to have been locked and all the locks were intact suspecting that the accused might have used duplicate keys.

During the night, the suspect jumped over a precast wall, used unknown means to open complainant’s vehicle and drove away.
