THREE ARMED ROBBERS JAILED FOR A COMBINED 70 YEARS IN KADOMA

THREE men have been convicted and sentenced to a combined 70 years in prison by the Kadoma Regional Magistrates’ Court.

Misheck Mutetwa (30), Lordshare Chimanya (29) and Kudakwashe Mapfiravana (27) were arrested on April 30, this year, after a series of robbery offences.

They were sentenced by Regional Magistrate Nicholas Mupeiwa on Monday.

Mutetwa was sentenced to 30 years, while Chimanya and Mapfiravana received 20 years each.

Police are looking for a member of the gang, Jimmy Mutetwa, who remains at large.

In a statement, Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, the CID spokesperson, said:

“The accused persons, together with an outstanding accomplice, Jimmy Mutetwa, embarked on a robbery spree armed with knives, axes and iron bars.

“They later moved to another victim’s residence, forcibly broke the door and gained entry into the house.

“The gang stole cash, cellphones, a laptop, car keys and other valuables.”

Muteweri said one of the robberies involved the theft of US$1,000 as well as cellphones, a laptop and car keys.

On April 30, CID Kadoma detectives received information linking the suspects to the robbery offences.

Acting on the information, the detectives arrested the three men and recovered two laptops, a pellet gun and several cellphones.
