The army side has won eight matches, drawn four and lost only on three occasions and lies third on the log with 28 points after fifteen matches and has been the most consistent team of all the teams which joined the top-flight division this season.
Chaminuka, a former Mzilikazi boy and a member of the Matabeleland Coca-Cola Under-18 squad, said his main worry was to survive relegation by winning at least five games in the second half of the season.
He said they would be beefing up the side during the two-week break imposed by the PSL.
“I am happy with the results which have come our way so far but being third on the log does not mean we are challenging for honours.
“Our aim is to fight relegation this season and we can only achieve that if we win five of our remaining games and anything that comes after that will be a bonus.
“We will beef up the side during the break and we have already identified five players — two strikers, two defenders and a midfielder — who I cannot mention at the moment because that will jeopardise negotiations,” said the Buffaloes gaffer.
The other teams which joined the league this season with the Mutare-based side are out-of-sorts Hardbody who are third from the bottom of the 16-team log with 10 points and are staring relegation in the face.
The Gweru side’s cause was interestingly worsened by Buffaloes when they were clobbered 2-0 at Ascot while Bulawayo-based Quelaton who are anchoring the log with a paltry five points are likely candidates for the dreaded chop this season.
Harare City is the only other Premiership newcomer which is not in the relegation zone as they are on position 10 but the Sunshine City boys are not completely out of the woods as they are only separated by seven points from Black Mambas the other team which is in danger of relegation.
Four teams will be relegated at the end of the season.
