Bulawayo a land of extraordinary talents — The Pro

Bhekumuzi Ncube, Sunday Life Reporter
BULAWAYO-BASED singer, Progress Msipha believes Bulawayo has amazing talents that need to be well taken care of.

The rapper who is popularly known as The Pro among his fans recently dropped a hit titled Umlilo Wedragon which has a deep kwaito sound resembling hits from the likes of South African veteran artistes, Mzekezeke and Mandoza.

He said they are many talented artistes in the city of royalty who require attention.

“Upcoming artistes are struggling to find support. Sums of money are required for us to record our music. I think arts leaders in the city should create more talent search concerts so they can discover hidden talents,” he said.

The Pro said he hopes his latest song will attract scores of people as he is aiming at being invited to perform in big concerts.

“I have a dream of becoming one of the top superstars in the future. I want to help the poor through my music. I was inspired by Mzekezeke as most of his songs advise people to make a change by pushing harder to make it happen. My grandfather Kenny Mangena who is an artiste is my role model. He used to play instrumentals for Black Umfolosi. My grandmother is always telling me that “music is a gamble”, you can win and make it happen or you can flop. God created everyone for a different purpose. I started to feel that music is in my blood in 2009. I composed a song called Tata with the help of my brother Inamandla Moyo aka Mosken Inax,” he said.

The Pro said he strongly believes in his abilities as an artiste and is determined to become a role model to the youth.

“I am working on my first studio album which is coming out this summer. The album is called “God Is Good”. It’s a hip-hop album which has 15 songs.

The music that I make has a message to the world. I am advising every youth to stay true to themselves because it’s a jungle out there. I thank all my producers namely Dumbanje, The black sheep, Reliance, King Beats and Lloyd. Fans can request my single from Khulumani Fm, Star Fm, Radio Zimbabwe and Power Fm,” he said.
