Spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident, adding that preliminary investigations had not yet established if there was any foul play.

“We are dealing with a case in which an unidentified man from Chegutu was crushed by a train along the Harare-Bulawayo railway track. We are now investigating whether the man died before being crushed or died as a result of it (crash),” he said.

The incident occurred on Thursday at around 5.20am along the Harare-Bulawayo railway track when the driver of the locomotive Danny Manunga (44) saw the man lying on the track from a distance of about 25m.

The train could not stop to avoid him before crushing him.
His legs were crushed while the body sustained a deep cut on the forehead.
A report was made and police are appealing to anyone that can help in positively identifying the man.
