THE Bulawayo Chess Club (BCC) will seek to extend their lead when the league enters its second round at Bulawayo Polytechnic tomorrow.
BCC dominated the first round encounter last month when they thumped Nkulumane and National University of Science and Technology.
They collected 10,5 game points to lead the log standings but Bulawayo Polytechnic and ZPC are very close with nine and eight points respectively.
Bulawayo Chess Association spokesperson Russell Dzute said the league was progressing smoothly.
“We are glad that the league is running smoothly and we are looking forward to the second round after a highly competitive first round,” said Dzute.
He said he expected all teams to be at their best during the second round.
“Teams like Nkulumane and ZRP Unit Fairbridge have very talented players and therefore fireworks are expected in the second round,” he said.
BCC will clash with Unit Fairbridge in the first match while Bulawayo Polytechnic will take on Nkulumane.
Bulawayo Polytechnic will lock horns with BCC in the second match while Nkulumane face Unit Fairbridge in the next game.
