THE Premier Soccer League is awaiting reports from the match commissioner and match officials before taking action on the violent conduct exhibited by Bulawayo Chiefs officials and players after their 2-1 defeat to Sheasham on Sunday.
Bulawayo Chiefs FC players and officials attacked match officials at the end of the game which was played at Bata Stadium and visuals have been circulating on social media.
The Chiefs players were protesting against some of the alleged decisions that had been made by the officials on the day.
Temperatures are said to have risen in the 89th minute when referee Thabani Bamala denied Bulawayo Chiefs what they felt should have been a penalty.
Defender Collin Kwaramba had brought down Billy Veremu inside the box. Moments later, Sheasham scored the winner much to the anger of the Chiefs players and technical staff.
Footage taken from the venue after the game shows Bulawayo Chiefs goalkeeper Issah Ali throwing what appears to be an ice pack towards the match officials as they made their way to the dressing room.
A number of players also appear to be charging at the referee during the melee.
The PSL yesterday said they are looking into the matter.
“We will look at the reports and we will make a decision from there. Once we get the reports we will then communicate the action to be taken,” said PSL communications officer Kudzayi Bare.
Contacted for a comment on the incident, Bulawayo Chiefs communications officer Thulani “Javas” Sibanda responded with a simple “no comment.”
Bulawayo Chiefs coach Johanisi Nhumwa also faces a fine for failing to attend the post-match interview.
