Bulawayo Christian League to hold awards

THE Bulawayo Christian League (BCL) will be holding end of year awards for outstanding players and teams in netball and football.

The tentative date has been set for 3 December.

According to a BCL official, Fungai Mundofa, in football the Player of the Year, Team of the Year, Top Goal Scorer, Coach of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year accolades will be up for grabs on the day.

In netball, Team of the Year, Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards will be tightly contested among the team and the players.

The event will see prizes such as kits and other sporting equipment being awarded to teams and individual players.

a�?This is a Christian league and our top objective is to grow in terms of our religion, so the awards will also see individuals being given Bibles, medals and certificates,a�? said Mundofa.

Mundofa said prizes were also going to be awarded to outstanding players in all the teams from both disciplines.

a�?Every week in our leagues we choose the Most Outstanding Players for that particular period and at the end of the season, the player who featured most as outstanding for his club will get an award,a�? he added.

Last seasona��s outstanding Players of the Year in the football league got a chance to play against Bulawayo giants, Highlanders who were in their pre-season preparations.

a�?The outstanding player award opens doors for many of our players and ita��s a platform where big teams can notice you in the event that we play one of the premier league teams this year again,a�? Mundofa said.

Mundofa also added that every team affiliated to the league would be awarded something as a token of appreciation and in the hope that more teams were going to affiliate with their league for the next season.

a�?This will be our seventh awards ceremony since the BCLa��s inception and we will be hoping to make it special if everything goes well,a�? he said.
