Bulawayo family’s desperate search for missing daughter

A family from Mahatshula suburb in Bulawayo is appealing for information following the mysterious disappearance of their daughter, Nomvelo Dlodlo, who has been missing for over a week.

Nomvelo was last seen on the morning of March 31, 2026, when she left home to visit a friend. Since then, all attempts to contact her have failed, with her mobile phones no longer going through.

Her father, Mr Killion Dlodlo, said the family is deeply worried about her sudden disappearance.

“We are very concerned about our daughter. She left home that morning saying she was going to see a friend, but she never returned. Since then, her phones have not been reachable,” he said.

Mr Dlodlo revealed that the day before her disappearance, some police officers had visited their home indicating that Nomvelo was being investigated on allegations of disorderly conduct.

“The police came looking for her and said she was being investigated. We did not understand what it was about, but the next morning she left home and we have not seen her since,” he said.

The family initially suspected that Nomvelo might have been arrested and detained. However, their efforts to locate her at local police stations yielded no results.

“We went to the police station thinking maybe she had been picked up, but they told us she was not there. What is confusing is that later on, the same police officers also came back to our house asking about her whereabouts,” Mr Dlodlo added.

In a desperate search for answers, the family has also checked several hospitals in and around Bulawayo, but no trace of Nomvelo has been found.

The disappearance has left the family distressed and seeking assistance from the public.

Anyone with information that may assist in locating Nomvelo Dlodlo is urged to report to the nearest police station.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
