THE Bulawayo Pool family on Monday woke up to the sad news of the passing on of illustrious billiards player and administrator Peter Dziko.
The late Dziko, one the cityas pool icons was influential in nurturing young pool players and in the formation of the Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA).
He died at the age of 45 at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH). The former Exchange Bar player was buried on Wednesday at Katambarare village in Honde Valley, Mutare.
a?Itas a great loss to the Bulawayo pool family. We have been robbed of a great player, mentor and administrator. He was a humble man who nurtured a number of young pool players in the city.
a?He owned a lot of pool tables in the city after venturing into the business in the late 1990s. He was a fine and modest businessman,a? said BPA publicity secretary Farai Nyandoro.
Former BPA executive member Donald Wadawu said they had lost a unifier in the pool sporting discipline.
a?Itas a big loss to the pool fraternity in general, he was a brother, an advisor and a friend. We learnt a lot from him, he was a unifier.
a?We worked together in the same BPA executive when he was committee member in the disciplinary committee then chaired by Cloudy Fombe and I was chairman of the referees committee,a? said Wadawu.
At the time of his death, the pool hero was running Palace Beer Garden in Bulawayo.
The late Dziko was born in Honde Valley on 11 April 1971 and leaves behind six children.
