THE Bulawayo Province Pool Association will conduct the draw for its annual BPPA Cup on Thursday as clubs prepare for the opening round scheduled for Sunday, March 22.
Organisers say preparations are almost complete for the tournament, which brings together teams from across the province.
BPPA publicity and marketing officer Osbornewells Dziko confirmed that 40 teams will take part in the first round.
From that group, 20 sides will advance to the next stage.
Those teams will join another 44 that move straight into the second round after receiving byes. The combined field will produce a 64-team bracket for the next phase of the competition.
Dziko said the first team drawn in each fixture will host the match while the second team will play away.
Elite teams from Filabusi will use a Bulawayo venue for their home matches.
“The home team will pay US$10 for the home slot. Matches will be played on a race to 10,” said Dziko.
The draw will take place during a BPPA council meeting on Thursday. Executive representatives from all tiers of the association are expected to attend.
Meanwhile, the association has made several administrative appointments.
BPPA secretary-general Nomore Muzvidziwa said Archie John Scholtz of Queens Pool Academy has been co-opted as the Athletes Commission representative.
Amos Dzenga of Exchange Pool Club has been named Players Representative.
Gugulethu Nyathi of Majiyampondo Pool Club will serve as the Women in Pool representative.
