Bulilima Easter Sports fiesta a success

THE Bulilima West constituency Easter Sports fiesta held at Tokwana Shopping Centre has been described as a success, as it showcased rural talent to the outside world.

The fiesta was mooted by Bulilima West legislator and Deputy Minister of Information Communication Technologies, Postal and Courier Services Dingumuzi Phuti to provide an interactive platform for youths to share ideas on how to push back the frontiers of poverty and spearhead development in their communities.

Macingwane, Zimnyama, Dombolefu, Dombodema, Vulindlela, Malanswazi, Hingwe, Bambadzi, Ndolwane, Makhulela, Madlambudzi, Masendu and Nyele’s select teams battled it out in the competition that was won by Malanswazi.

Malanswazi beat Nyele 1-0 in the football final, the same score line they recorded against Masendu in the semi-finals.

Nyele had overcome Butshe 3-1 on penalties to book a place in the final after a goalless stalemate in regulation time.
The same wards competed in the netball tourney won by Macingwane, who beat Butshe 23-19.

Highlanders chief executive officer Ronald Moyo and assistant coach Joel Luphahla were among the guests at the tournament.

“The idea of the event was to mobilise youths to participate in initiatives of their communities and we continue to implore them to utilise the ongoing voter registration blitz in their areas.

“The presence of Highlanders chief executive officer Ronald Moyo and Highlanders assistant coach Joel Luphahla served as a way of promoting sports in rural areas and l am happy to say they managed to scout a few players they will be engaging soon,” said Deputy Minister Phuti.

“I am grateful to everyone who made their way to celebrate a special day with me. The event was also a gesture to thank the people of Bulilima West for voting for me and His Excellency President Mnangagwa on appointing me as Deputy Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services,” he said. — @innocentskizoe
