BULLET BLITZ! Gun-toting robber jailed for 12 years

B-Metro Reporter

IT was lights out for a daring Epworth thug after the Harare Magistrates’ Court threw the book at him, sentencing him to 12 years behind bars for a terrifying armed robbery that had neighbours shaking in their boots!

Paul Chinomonya (29) of Muguta, Epworth, probably thought he’d pulled off the perfect heist when he stormed a man’s home at 3AM on 18 April 2022, wielding a 9x19mm Star pistol like something out of an action novel.

But the drama turned deadly real when the homeowner screamed for help and neighbours came running. Chinomonya responded by firing two wild shots into the night, threatening to mow down anyone who dared come close.

The ruthless robber ransacked the house, made off with US$500 and a cellphone, then vanished into the darkness like a ghost. But the law never sleeps!

A bullet casing left behind told the tale. Police tracked Chinomonya all the way to Masvingo, where he was busted with the same pistol used during the raid. Ballistics tests sealed his fate.

Now, Chinomonya will have plenty of time to reflect — 12 long years in prison.
