Bus crew nabbed for dagga

TWO bus drivers and a conductor have been arrested for unlawful possession of 50kgs of dagga.

Police in Kadoma conducting stop and searches, arrested bus driver, Mutunzi Shupikai, 48, his assistant, Makanda Givemore, 52, and conductor, Tendai Nyabute, 25, at Waverly bus stop.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrest.

He said the dagga stashed in the bus was packaged in 2×25 kgs plastic bags inside a bag.

“Meanwhile, police in Harare arrested Leon Muzondo, 20, Innocent Ngwenya, 24, and a 17-year-old juvenile for unlawful cultivation of dagga in Msasa opposite Danhiko School.

“The dagga was uprooted and it weighed approximately 5kgs,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.

He said police also arrested two suspects for unlawful possession of copper cables.

“Police in Kutama arrested Tilage Madhodha, 33, and Mcdonald Muzizi, 40, for unlawful possession of copper cables.

“The suspects were intercepted by police near Kutama bus stop, carrying sacks while looking for transport.

“Police searched the sacks and recovered four rolls of copper wire weighing approximately 5kgs and four rolls of deformed aluminium pipes, weighing approximately 25kgs,” he said.
