SULUMAN Chimbetu’s camp says it’s an honour having the full backing of fans throughout the year.
The 40-year-old, who is not going on annual break this month, said he was humbled by the support he got at Long Chen Plaza last weekend.
“It’s really encouraging when fans show you their loyalty throughout the year.
“I never thought fans would come in numbers considering the ‘January Disease’ and of course the ‘back to school’ demands, which drained many fans.
“Having such a full house here is quite an honour; I can’t ask for more,” he said.
Sulu, who is set to release a new album this year, believes his music is therapeutic.
“We sing timeless music and as such, we can’t afford to starve fans of live shows.
“Of course, there are some people who might be facing financial challenges during this time of the year, but fun will help them to overcome these challenges.
“As a musician, the best way I can make them happy is through organising shows throughout the year.
“As you noticed, people enjoyed themselves tonight (last weekend) and this is the kind of atmosphere, which can make us a better society where we share our sorrows together,” he said.
As promised by his management, Sulu won’t stop for a breather with a number of gigs lined-up throughout January.
He is already planning Valentine’s Day shows for next month.
