BUSINESSMAN Gilbert Muponda has retraced his roots to his rural home in Gwindingwi Village, under Makoni district in Rusape, where he is building a school and clinic.
He told H-Metro it was always his dream to improve the lives of the community which brought him up.
“I am excited to say we have now started the journey to build classroom blocks in Gwindingwi Village to improve access to education for my brothers and sisters here.
“We are adding a small clinic to serve the school and immediate communities so that their access to basic medical care is also improved.
“We have already started working on the site and hope to quickly implement the project and present it in a few months,” said Muponda.
Muponda said he also has plans to equip the villagers with various skills.
“After completion, we will also offer practical courses for both men and women from the village.
“Skills such as sewing, mechanics, welding, building and carpentry will be offered to make sure our young people are able to fend for their families,” he said.
Muponda, who also has a keen interest in sporting talent development, said he will also take his football academy to the village.
“The plan also involves taking sport seriously and creating a conducive environment to develop and scout for talent.
“We are adding a sporting facility and a football academy to nurture young talent,” he said.
