After winning the first prize for the Best African Menswear Collection at the Durban Fashion Fair Fashion Awards in South Africa in September, Sidumiso Tshuma of Shadow by Sidumiso, last week had the honour of seeing his designs donned by Idols judge Somizi Mhlongo.

Mhlongo was spotted putting on the Zimbabwean designersa wear at the JAZZ On the River showcase which was held a few weeks ago.

Tshuma alongside Nkanyeziyethu Malunga were part of the Zimbabwean contingent at this yearas Durban extravaganza where their work received rave reviews. Both are Alumnis of the Quality Assurance Workshops, Intwasa Fashion Show and the Young Designers Development Programme which Hunnar Management Agency did in collaboration with Edgars Stores Ltd.

The Bulawayo-born designeras Knight themed collection impressed judges at the fashion fair during the Fashion Recognition Awards that marked the end of the five-day fashion showcase that had begun on August 30.

The magic of the event seemed to have rubbed off on Tshuma, whose deft hand seemed to have impressed the famously fashion-savvy Somizi.

a?Shadow by Sidumiso won the best African Menswear at this yearas Durban Fashion Fair, so automatically he becomes the sought after designer and Somizi who attended it again this year, purchased again some of his pieces.

After dressing him last year, Somizi fell in love with creations by Sidumiso,a? said Gilmore Tee Moyo of Hunnar Management Agency which represents Tshuma.
