Byo drivers dominate drag race

Seventeen competitors entered the different classes of cars and there were three motorcycles.

Bulawayo competitors stole the show as they dominated top positions.

Bulawayo’s Ian Gutherless and Harare’s Kevin Allmark won the overall fastest bike and fastest car respectively.

Gutherless clocked 11.26 seconds in his Kawasaki 1000 while Allmark recorded 11.22 seconds in his Subaru STi in the quarter-mile course.

Bulawayo Motoring Club’s (BMC) spokesperson Leonora Young said the competition went well and they were looking forward to their next race.

“The race on Saturday was a great success as it was filled with thrills and excitement.

“The event witnessed the return of the public drags to the Falls Road Circuit for the second round of the 2012 series. Our sponsors were very pleased with the event and the support it received.

“We are now looking forward to our next drag event in Bulawayo that will be on 25 August,” Young said.

The event was sponsored by Suzuki Centre, Car-Tech, Greens Supermarkets, Tin Cup, Absolute Aqua, Prestige Paints, Colour World and Safeguard.
