Byo music fans eagerly anticipate the 9th edition of the Pacific Bulawayo Shutdown

Music enthusiasts in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s cultural hub, are counting down the days to the highly anticipated 9th edition of the Bulawayo Shutdown, now rebranded as the Pacific Bulawayo Shutdown.

The event, a cornerstone of the city’s entertainment calendar, has gained even more momentum this year thanks to a strategic partnership between Harris Entertainment and Pacific Tobacco, a collaboration that promises to elevate the festival to new heights.

Originally launched as a grassroots celebration of Bulawayo’s vibrant music scene, the Bulawayo Shutdown has grown into a must-attend event, drawing fans from across Zimbabwe and beyond. This year’s edition, set to take place on 26 April at Queens Sports Club is expected to be the biggest yet, with organisers promising an unforgettable experience for attendees.

The rebranding to Pacific Bulawayo Shutdown reflects the growing influence of corporate partnerships in the entertainment industry. Pacific Tobacco, a leading name in the region, has thrown its weight behind the event, enabling organisers to secure top-tier talent and enhance the overall production quality.

“This partnership is a game-changer for us,” said Harris Entertainment manager, Jordan Dube

“With Pacific Tobacco’s support, we’ve been able to expand the scale of the event and bring in some of the biggest names in the industry. It’s a win-win for everyone—artists, fans, and the city of Bulawayo.”

The lineup for this year’s festival is a testament to the event’s growing prestige. Headliners include Winky D, Uncle Waffles, Emtee, Zee Khumalo, DJ Tira and Nasty C alongside a mix of established stars and rising talents from Zimbabwe’s thriving music scene namely Enzo Ishal, DJ Tamuka, Mzoe 7 and Prince Eskhosini.

Genres ranging from Afrobeat and hip-hop to traditional Zimbabwean sounds will be represented, ensuring there’s something for every taste.

For fans in Bulawayo, the Pacific Bulawayo Shutdown is more than just a music festival—it’s a celebration of community and culture.
