admincables in Budiriro have appeared in court together with an alleged copper buyer.
Chamunorwa Chiunda and Tendai Kanhukamwe are being charged with theft of cables.
Simon Gomwe is accused of buying the stolen cables.
The three were not asked to plead when they appeared before Mbare magistrate Mr Brighton Pabwe.
Chiunda and Kanhukamwe were denied bail while Gomwe was released on US$50 bail.
Mr Pabwe remanded Chiunda and Kanhukamwe to March 15 while Gomwe was remanded to March 28 for trial.
Prosecutor Mr Phineas Yaso told the court that Chiunda and Kanhukamwe stole overhead and underground Zesa electricity cables in Budiriro 5 and Glen View 3.
He said the two sold the cables to Gomwe of Glen View 1.
Gomwe allegedly hid the cables in his dog kennels and in a pit dug in his backyard.
Mr Yaso told the court the three were arrested following a tip-off by members of the public.
A total of 610kgs of cables were recovered.
However, Mr Wantson Changwiza of Kwenda and Associates who represented Gomwe told the court that the cables did not belong to his client but to one Kaka who is on the run.
He said Kaka has several other cases against him.
