Call for the equipping of Vocational Training Centres

VOCATIONAL Training Centres (VTCs) in Bulawayo and Matabeleland North provinces have made an impassioned plea to the Government to provide them with state-of-the-art equipment for their workshops.

There are five VTCs in the two provinces; three in Bulawayo (Jairos Jiri, Lobengula and Sizinda) while Matabeleland North has two (Umguza and Tsholotsho).

In his remarks during a graduation ceremony held at Lobengula Hall last week, Matabeleland North VTCs provincial head, Mr Stanford Ngwenya said equipping the centres with state of the art equipment will help their trainees to be able to compete with students from better equipped institutions and to also seamlessly fit into the ever demanding industry.

The graduation ceremony was graced by the Deputy Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Kudakwashe Mupamhanga.
“For our trainees to be able to compete with other Masters of industry Honourable Guest of Honour, a special request is made to our ever listening Government for support with the state-of-the-art equipment for our workshops,” said Mr Ngwenya.

He said capacitation of the centres will also lead to an increase in student intake at the five centres and in the process, help in the fight against drugs and substance abuse by taking the youths off the streets.
“Our combined provinces once equipped with state-of-the-art facilities will attract a huge number of students thereby combating drug and substance abuse in our country,” said Mr Ngwenya.
