‘Call me back’ spawns lawsuit

man to apply for a peace order against an ex-girlfriend he accuses of sending him more than 170 such messages per night.
Bruce Holita approached the Harare Civil Courts seeking protection from Fiona Mhizha’s phone. Holita and Mhizha co-habitated for eight months. He also accused Mhizha of hiring “thugs” to assault him.
“She was my live-in girlfriend and I want to be protected because she hires gangsters to assault me. I cannot stay with her because she aborted twice.
“She calls and sends me 172 call-me-backs per night disturbing my night. She is threatening to harm me using traditional medicines,” he said.
Holita told the court that he wants Mhizha barred from his workplace as she harasses his clients. Mhizha did not deny the allegations, but argued that she calls Holita because she wants him to pay lobola for her.
“It’s true I called him because I want him to pay lobola to my parents because I have stayed with him for eight months as his wife, doing everything like husband and wife so I can’t let go like that.
“I also have some property which we bought together so I want it,” she said.
Mhizha told the court that Holita forces her to take some contraceptive pills yet he knows that she is pregnant.
Magistrate Ms Lynn Manyika granted Holita the protection order.
