Call to fight EU’s divisive tactics

keen to divide the country, a Cabinet minister has said.

Speaking to members of the Guta raMwari (Zvimiso) church in Nyazura on Sunday, Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere said the European Union was working at dividing Zimbabwe by targeting the leadership.

“We have comrades like Minister (Didymus) Mutasa who suffered for the liberation of Zimbabwe. For the independence that we enjoy today.
“These are the same people that are being persecuted together with President Mugabe as they fight for the total emancipation of Zimbabwe,” he said.

The EU recently announced the removal of 81 individuals from its illegal sanctions                 list.
The European bloc, however, retained sanctions against President Mugabe, First Lady Amai Mugabe and Presidential Affairs Minister Didymus Mutasa.

Also retained still on the sanctions list are Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander General Constantine Chiwenga, Zimbabwe National Army commander General Phillip Valerio Sibanda and Air Marshall Perrance Shiri.

The EU has maintained the illegal sanctions on Central Intelligence Organisation director general Happyton Bonyongwe, Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri, Major General Douglas Nyikayaramba and war veterans leader Cde Jabulani Sibanda.

“These whites are harrassing our leaders. They are trying to weaken our country through our leaders.
“These are the same leaders who brought us independence and they are trying to divide us as a nation,” he said.
Minister Kasukuwere, however, hailed indigenous churches working with the Government to develop the nation.

He said its important for the church to be instrumental in development.
“There are doctors, managing directors, engineers who are being assisted by the church in the development of the nation.

“This church, like our political parties is for the black people and pushing for the development of blacks. It’s an indigenous church determined to see the development of the nation.”

Minister Kasukuwere said the church was built under the auspices of                                                        indigenisation.
Addressing the same gathering, Presidential Affairs Minister Mutasa urged the church members to vote overwhelmingly for Zanu-PF and President Mugabe.

“We have been to many countries across the world but there has not been a leader who is better than President Mugabe.
“If he gets more than 80 percent of the vote it means that Zanu-PF would  stay in power.”

The Zanu-PF secretary for administration said Zimbabweans should be proud of the recently adopted draft Constitution.
“No one was consulted in the 1923, 1965 and 1979 constitutions and this time around there was enough consultations.

“We are going to elections with the new Constitution and we should vote overwhelmingly for President Mugabe and the party.”
Minister Mutasa said voting for President Mugabe would ensure that Zimbabwe defeats the enemy.

“The Westeners want to cause chaos in Zimbabwe and the only way we protect our independence is to vote for President Mugabe and Zanu-PF,” he said.
The meeting was attended by Zanu-PF Central Committee members Cdes Molly Mpofu and Mandi Chimene.

Businessman Cde Dexter Nduna also addressed the gathering pledging to work with the church to develop the area.
