Calls for divine intervention to save Hwange from relegation

SOME people do not go to church but sometimes find time to pray to the Almighty for divine intervention when in trouble. When people pray, they believe that their prayers will be answered by God who is supreme to all things on earth. It is because of this belief that I appeal to supporters of Hwange or Chipangano to pray for divine intervention to save their team from relegation.

Life has not been that good for Hwange as they find themselves among candidates for the dreaded chop. Unless there is a dramatic change to their fortunes, Hwange might find themselves playing in the unfashionable Division One league next season.

Hwange has passionate supporters who also happen to be employees of the giant coal mining company, Hwange Colliery Company, while others work for Zimbabwe Power Company.

The relegation of Hwange will bring gloom to the majority of workers if not the entire workforce of these two important national companies.

Hwange players have shown beyond any reasonable doubt that they can match even the most feared and heavily funded teams in the league, what with the 1-0 defeat of FC Platinum in the Mbada Diamonds Cup and the 4-2 drubbing of Dynamos in the league match on Wednesday.

The supporters’ hopes are pinned on head coach Nation Dube, his assistants Brian Njobvu and Chenjerai Dube who should find new tactics of beating the opponents and move the team out of murky waters of relegation so that come 2014, Hwange fans continue to watch their favourite team playing against giants like Highlanders, Caps United, Dynamos, FC Platinum among other teams at their home ground.
