RISING music star, Calvin Mangena, has unveiled his latest single, Sukuma, a captivating track that promotes pride, unity and celebration of love. Mangena’s inspiration for Sukuma stems from his church experience.

“The whole inspiration came when I was in church. During introductions, pastors would proudly say ‘Sukuma bakubone’ (stand up so that they can see you).

“Seeing happy couples standing together created an out-of-this-world feeling. I want people to brag and be proud of their loved ones,” he said.

Calvin’s creative journey for Sukuma was a harmonious blend of inspiration, experimentation, and passion.

“Words were flowing; it felt like freestyling,” Calvin recalls.

He collaborated with renowned South African producer Samukeliso Ngobese, purchasing the beat and crafting magic in the studio.

“Samukeliso’s instrumental brought the emotions and vibe I needed for Sukuma.”

The beat’s infectious rhythm and melodic grooves set the foundation for Calvin’s uplifting lyrics. Calvin’s strength lies in versatility, embracing various sounds and genres.

“I love challenges and surprising people. I’m not boxed into one genre; it’s fun playing around with different sounds.”

Since its release, Sukuma has garnered significant attention.

“People are loving the song, and surprisingly, they now want more Maskandi music!” Calvin exclaimed. With 15 000 YouTube views and counting, the numbers speak for themselves.”

“Fans can anticipate more music soon. “Stay active, I’m about to surprise you with magic,” Calvin teased.
