A CANCER survivor and dedicated church elder, Pastor Rosemary Mangwanya, celebrated her 62nd birthday in Harare on Saturday.
The joyful gathering at the New United Apostolic Faith Church was marked not only by festivities but also by poignant reflections on health and faith.
Pastor Rosemary used the occasion to encourage her guests to prioritise cancer screening.
“When we thank God for the gift of life, it carries more weight when we reflect on our health,” Pastor Rosemary said.
“I am truly grateful for your prayers.
“We must support one another and pray for one another as our faith is tested through sickness.”
She recounted how her children insisted on seeking treatment abroad, only to discover the expertise was available in their own country.
“I was quick to accept their suggestion out of concern but I learnt that we have capable doctors right here at home,” she said.
Pastor Rosemary also presented gifts to children who were celebrating her birthday.
She promised to host a Christmas party for them.
Bishop Sylvester Kusinira urged everyone to engage in wellness activities and prioritise their health.
“It is unfortunate that sometimes those who know darkness act wiser than the children of the light.
“We need to be vigilant in taking care of ourselves.
“Many overlook essential activities that keep them fit, like dancing, in an effort to maintain a self-proclaimed holiness.
“Let us prioritise nourishing our bodies with good food and maintaining an active lifestyle.
“God cares about our health, which is why he provided us with meat and vegetables.”
A Midlands State University student wept as she thanked Pastor Rose for giving her free accommodation.
