CAPS United Football Club has joined clubs across the country in mourning the deaths of Highlanders Football Club chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, vice chairman Sifiso Siziba and treasurer Nkani Khoza, who died in a road traffic accident on Thursday night.
In a statement, the Harare giants extended their condolences to the bereaved families and the entire Highlanders fraternity, describing the tragedy as a loss to Zimbabwean football.
“Caps United Football Club joins Highlanders Football Club and the entire football fraternity in mourning the tragic passing of three Highlanders FC Executive Members following a devastating road accident.
“During this time of immense sorrow, we extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to the bereaved families and Highlanders Football Club,” the club said.
CAPS United said the tragedy had united the football community in grief as it remembered the contribution the three executives made to the development of the game.
“The football community is one family, and today we stand united in grief, remembering the invaluable contributions these dedicated leaders made to the game in Zimbabwe.
“May the Almighty God grant strength, comfort, and peace to the families during this difficult time.
“May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Highlanders family.”
